Our mission
Make it simple to prove that the organic food you buy and sell is really organic.
Why this matters
The organic label is a promise, and people pay more because they trust it. That promise holds only if every business in the supply chain knows its suppliers are really certified, for the products they actually sell.
USDA's records are public, and every certified handler now has to verify its organic suppliers. But checking them one lookup at a time and chasing certificates by email takes hours that small food businesses rarely have.
What we believe
- Public data should be easy to use. It exists to protect the organic label, and using it shouldn't take a compliance department.
- Show your work. Results link back to USDA's records, so you can check them yourself.
- Say what we don't know. USDA's data can lag, and product lists are often incomplete. We flag what to confirm with a certifier rather than guess.
- Your supplier list is yours. We use it only to run your checks, and we don't sell it.
Who we are
Organic Check is an independent service run by Josh Yaspan in Oregon. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by USDA or any certifier.
